So you have received some stunning flowers from us here at Florist Ilene but you’re unsure how to care for them?
Below is some handy tips and links to our YouTube page explaining how to get the best out of your flowers.
Water filled container:
How to care for you bouquet that has arrived in a water filled container.
- Leave your bouquet in the container it has arrived in and enjoy as it is
- Check the water level everyday by placing you hand at the back of the bouquet between the flowers and the paper and feel to see how high the water level is.
- If below the tie off point of the water filled container please top up water but do not top up to the very top as this can cause spillage and leakage out the top.
- You can add a drop or two of bleach to help kill off any germs that may form inside the water filled container but please be careful to only use a small amount.
- Once you have finished enjoying your flowers please recycle the flowers and water filled container, we do not recommended reusing as the bacteria in the bladder can be harmful to new flowers.
Wet wrapped bouquet:
How to care for your flowers that have arrived with wet wrapped around the bottom of stems.
- Remove top protective layer wrap to expose bouquet with wet wrap on bottom.
- Cut tie around wet wrap over sink and let any water run into sink, remove wet wrap from bottom of stems and rinse stems under water.
- Recut your stems on a sharp angle and place your bouquet into a vase with fresh water that has been cleaned with soap and bleach if possible.
- Please re clean you vase and cut your stems every two days to help keep your flowers at their best.
Floral foam arrangement:
How to care for your flower arrangement in green floral foam.
- Water your floral foam with fresh clean water every day in with ½ a cup of water.
- Your flowers will “drink” from the green floral foam so it is important to keep this moist at all times.
- We recommend parting your flowers carefully in the middle of your arrangement and watering into the foam from here, making sure you get in close to the foam to avoid water running out the sides of your arrangement
