Flower Care

So you have received some stunning flowers from us here at Florist Ilene but you’re unsure how to care for them?
Below is some handy tips and links to our YouTube page explaining how to get the best out of your flowers.

Bouquet of cut flowers:

When you receive your flowers you will need to remove the wet wrap and re cut their stems on a sharp angle. Place ½ of the flower food sachet that will be attached to your bouquet into a vase of clean fresh water. Change the water every two days to keep your flowers free from bacteria. You can add in a small drop of bleach to keep the water fresh.

Vox box or Water filled container:

If your flowers have arrived in a Vox or water filled container you can start enjoying them straight away without any fuss. Top up the water every 2 days to make sure all the stems are in water. Place a few drops of bleach in the water to keep the bacteria away and to prolong the life of your flowers. Once you flowers are past there best please throw out the vox AND flowers, we do not recommended that you re use the vox as it may contain bacteria from the flower stems.

Arrangement:

If your flowers have arrived as an arrangement (in oasis floral foam) you can start enjoying them straight away without any fuss. Your flowers will be arranged into floral foam and this will need to be watered every 2 days to keep the flowers at their best. Part the flowers in the middle of the arrangement and add about ¼ cup of fresh water.
